The Sea Protected in You! Here I Am!

Take This Heart New Song Jacob

Beloved (2) Heart Healing Finis!

Gallery notes:

May - June 2009

I believe it was John Wesley whose final words were, "The best of all is that God is for us", or that God is with us. Looking at the six pictures I've put up so far in this gallery (as of June 14th), I think that's all that I can say. The best of all is that God is with us, and He is for us. Thank You, God!

(Finished posting on July 22) -- Now the last line of pictures makes me think of how Yes, God is for us, and how much He lovingly wants to heal us. But like that face of Jacob, like that need to look down at His blood under us and presence in us, He has brought us to a place of decision, a moment of choice, whether to reach up and cry to Him (and be healed), or to turn the other way and die anyway. What will be our choice in this moment? What will be the outcome of our story?

Jacob

Jacob

By Ramone - June 13, 2009
In the womb he grasped his brother's heel;
as a man he struggled with God.
He struggled with the angel and overcame him;
he wept and begged for his favor.

- Hosea 12:3-4
There is a lot that could be said about Jacob. His name itself means "he grasps the heel", which is a Hebrew idiom for "he takes advantage of" or "he deceives". God saw all of that in Jacob. God saw Jacob as he actually was. But He also saw deeper than that, deep into his soul--
"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at the outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart."

- 1 Samuel 16:7
God saw a kid longing for approval, taught at a young age to grab what he wants even if it did not belong to him. God saw Jacob's nature, but He saw something deeper, too. And so He let Jacob go through a lot of crap in his life. Because He loved him. Just to bring him to this place so that He could heal him.
"I have seen his ways, but I will heal him;
I will guide him and restore comfort to him."

- Isaiah 57:18
I think I'm beginning to understand Jacob. I'm a lot like him. I think most of us are a lot like him. We supplant, we usurp, we try to get what has been promised to us through our own means and efforts, expecting God to bless us along the way ("God helps those who help themselves"). And then we get upset at all the crap we have to endure. But God loves us too much to leave us to our ways. All us little Jacobs.

New Song

New Song

By Ramone - May 10 & June 10, 2009
"Sing to the Lord a new song,
for He has done marvelous things;
His right hand and His holy arm
have worked salvation for Him."
- Psalm 98:1

The Sea

The Sea

By Ramone - May 27, 2009

"Who is a God like You,
Who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of His inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy.

You will again have compassion on us;
You will tread our sins underfoot
and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea."
- Micah 7:18-19

Take This Heart

Take This Heart

By Ramone - June 5, 2009

As I was walking and praying for people in the city, I prayed and knew God would give me a picture. I felt "broken hearts" in my spirit. I thought of several different picture ideas, but nothing settled and I knew He would show me just one in His time. After I settled down at a cafe to continue praying and begin painting, He did just that. I saw a picture of the peoples' broken hearts, in their hands, coming out of this city, holding their pains & wounds, disappointments and lost hopes (which have often led them into worse situations).

And I don't know if this heart is being held to us or to Him. I think it is both.

Here I am!

Here I Am!

By Ramone - May 31, 2009

Often we're looking up, calling to Him, waiting for Him... or looking for a sign, waiting for something. But He is here. Right underneath us. In Christ, He is in us and we rest on Him. We stand on Him and in Him. Sometimes we need to look down instead of up.
