Behind the Clouds

The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
Clouds and thick darkness surround Him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
Fire goes before Him
and consumes His foes on every side.
His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim His righteousness,
and all the peoples will see His glory!
- Psalm 97:1-6
The wheat is us, His precious harvest whom He is bringing home. The clouds which in their blackness seemed like the enemy are the "clouds of thick darkness" which surround the Lord. As I looked at the picture in my spirit of the wheat and the large black clouds, I seemed to see some light behind them between the cracks of the clouds, coming from behind them.
His coming will look dark to many of us, much darker than what we expect... not the "glory" and trumpets of majesty or conquest we would desire, but instead trumpets of His righteous judgment calling mankind to repentance. Dark clouds will precede His coming, and most of the world--even most churches--will think that the clouds are the enemy. Bad things, judgments, persecution of the church.
But the clouds are GOD! God is behind them, and He is coming! If we look, He will show us His light in their cracks, and He will fill us with His heart and awe because He is coming riding on these clouds! He is behind them, in them and above them! The Lord comes to judge the earth, Hallelu Yah! And when the Lord judges the earth, the people of the world learn His righteousness, Hallelu Yah!

I painted this in acrylics back in 2003 after the original sumi-e style picture (see "Part 1" link above). It's fitting that acrylics are heavy, because this picture is a heavy thing!
I wasn't happy with it because it was hard to match it with what I saw, and indeed it still doesn't look great, but it gets the idea across well enough. I let it sit for more than four years! Wow. Recently I realized it was actually not a bad painting, and only needed to have the wheat re-painted. So I did that this week and it's finished.
Ironically and unintentionally, the shape of the light-coming-through seems to resemble the Japanese character "shu", which means "Lord" and "Master", and which is used in the Japanese Bible (and worship songs) for the Name of the Lord, Yahweh (in English "The Lord"). Fitting, because it is THE LORD behind these clouds, and the Light is Him!
Thank You, Lord. Lord, I don't know how to say this or pray this, but I pray that You touch people with what they need to see in this picture. This is one of the first pictures You showed me in my spirit, and I know there is a heavy resitance because of mistaken teachings to understanding these things about Your coming. They look and sound "dark" to people, and yet in their cracks is Your glory! Let them see the Light (You!) in the cracks of the heavy truths which appear like heavy falseness to them, but which are actually truths that are indeed heavy. Lord, let them see that although the wheat is in the day of darkness, the wheat sees the Light behind the darkness, and the wheat is protected just as You promised in Psalm 46 and 91. You gave me this one, I know with so much certainty! Thank You! Now I give it back to You, Lord God, Yahweh! Use it for Your glory! Help people understand what they need to know, what You've shown me and even more than You've shown me, Lord. Use this to help Your wheat see the Light, to know that You are there behind the clouds. Yes, Lord! That is it! Thank You! As the day of darkness comes upon us, as the dark clouds come, use this testimony from Your Spirit in my spirit in order to help them know that the wheat is protected, and that You are there, the Lord, the Light, behind the clouds! Bless You, Lord God, bless Your heart, Father, Jesus, Spirit. In Jesus' name, amen.
